My original fuse block (48-12250) is a flat piece of fiber material approximately 7/8 inch by 4-3/4 inch. Through the years it has acquired quite a warp (bend)to it probably due to the wires pulling on the two connectors directly below the ignition resistor. Is there a way to flatten the fuse block out or should I simply leave well enough alone?? I don't want to break it by bending back and its in pretty solid shape. I assume the replacements are cheap and I prefer originality.

36 Fords have a similar problem and the material does bend over time because of the heat generated by the resistor. I would not try to bend it straight like you said it may break. There are replacement insulating materials out there if you want to only replace that part. I do not know of a source and I would agree today's reproductions are not always that good. Try the Wanted Section and you may be able to find a good used or NOS resistor block
