In early Nov.2011 I asked for advice re door glass installation. I now have a new glass for my 1950 Ford, 4-door sedan. I am unsure as to how the glass is secured to the channel. I have a new lower channel and roll of glass bedding (a corklike substance) obtained from Mac's Antique Auto Parts. Before I get into trouble attempting to do it wrong, I am hoping to get some words of wisdom from those who have "been there, done that" Also I have to replace the vent-bar glass channel. Any help will be appreciated; thank you.

Cut a piece if the "glass bedding" (I've always called it glass channel tape) the length of the channel, place it around the bottom edge of the glass and push the glass into the channel. Friction keeps it in place. I have never seen a "corklike substance" used. It's usually rubber. Richard

Do you have the 49-51 Shop Manual? It describes the procedure for replacing the glass on page 224. Check with Dennis Carpenter for the vent window seal and installation instructions. Tom This message was edited by TomO on 12-3-11 @ 8:13 AM

Tip: when working inside a door, always wear a heavy long sleeved shirt, as the edges of the openings are almost always razor sharp and can easily cut your arms. I learned that the hard way long ago. This message was edited by supereal on 12-3-11 @ 7:44 PM
