On a '41 what color should the door check arm be?

The check arms are usually just metal colored. The ones on my '47 were so rusty and dirty we couldn't tell what they were originally. Repros are available in plain metal and shiny stainless varieties. I'm sure that Henry didn't use stainless in a place that can't be seen much.
