Hi guys; I am putting my dual exhaust back on my 40. I have the tail pipe,muffler,cross over pipe and manifolds off. I cannot get the exhaust pipe out. I do not want to cut the pipe. The system only has about 1200 miles on it. Any suggestions? Thanks to all. RG/NJ

Are you referring to the pipe between the manifold and the muffler inlet? If it is not connected to the manifold, you should be able to pull it out. You say you have the manifolds off. Unless you are installing headers, that usually isn't necessary. Removing fasteners and clamps of exhaust systems usually requires putting some heat on the balky part. The trickiest part of installing dual exhaust is finding or fabricating the head pipe for the driver's side so it clears the pedals. We farm that out to a good muffler shop.

Hi Super; Yes the pipe i am refering to is the pipe from the right front exhaust manifold that goes to the muffler inlet.The dual exhaust system i had on the car before i am just reinstalling again.Thank You

If you are trying to remove the exhaust pipe from the muffler, you can try heating the connection until it is red and then working the pipe from side to side to expand the connection enough to free it. Tom

Hi Super & Tomo: I finally got the exhaust pipe out this morning. I took 2 of the bolts that fasten the battery tray to the frame off. That gave me 2 inches of play. I pulled the tray back toward the fender pulled the pipe forward up and out. I should have thought of that sooner.Thanks for your input.
