Topic: starter button problem

I have an intermittent starter button problem. Every once in awhile it does nothing. I'm going to replace it but was wondering if there might be another problem causing this. Any ideas?

The usual cause of that problem is poor grounding of the body of the button to the dashboard. The button furnishes ground to the solenoid when it is pushed. Pry the button down from the dash and clean the edges of the mounting hole and the body of the button. Be sure it snaps tightly when reinstalled, and that the wire to the terminal is clean and tight.

Thanks Super. I'll give that a try.

  Super is of course correct.
I always solder a wire to the body of the switch and attach the opposite end out of site near the switch.
You will be amazed at the difference it makes with even a 'good' switch.

My car was just repainted and dust got everywhere so I suspect the ground of the switch was compromised. I didn't have time to pull it out today to look at and ensure a good ground, but when I do I will solder a wire on it as Mike recommends. Great recommendation!
