Topic: '36 Ford original fuel pump?

Flatbob    -- 10-26-2011 @ 11:36 AM
Am trying to get a rebuild kit for what I believe is an original '36 ford fuel pump put the numbers stamped into mounting flange don't match with THEN AND NOW fuel pump kits. The number on my pump is 1523257 which doesn't match anything in the GREEN BOOK either. The pump is an AC and looks just like the one in the 35-36 BOOK. Any help would be appreciated.

AC pump numbers will not be the same as Ford P/N.

The 36 pump bowl is 1 15/16" in diameter. It should have the phenolic hexagon shaped discs for the valves.

If you are trying to get a rebuild kit from Then and Now by sending an E-Mail, I wish you lots of luck. I tried several times and never succeeded. A phone call will work better.

TomO, here's a picture of my '36 pump, the pump bowl cover measures as you describe. The repair kit is on its way. When I do the vacuum check on the inlet side of the pump I would disconnect line going to carb and block it off?

  Bob,

You only have to disconnect the input to do the vacuum check.

I cannot tell from the photo that you posted if the pump is a correct one for a 36. It looks like it has the hex shaped phenolic valve discs.

When you post photos, it would help if you reduce the resolution about 50%. This will give adequate resolution for most monitor and reduce the download time considerably.

Good luck with your rebuild.
