Topic: 1950 Ford 2 Door

Okay folks I just joined yesterday and I'm looking for a little info. My Ford was badly damaged in the 1991 tornado here in Wichita Ks. I now want to bring it back to life. My battery is missing and I would like to simply know what the battery Group might be and also what is the simplist way to tell if my ford was upgraded from 6 volt to 12 volt. I can't remember if the previous owner upgraded it or not.
Thanks and glad to be a member

Look at a bulb and see what type it is. Some bulbs may even have the voltage stamped on them. A 12-volt conversion is not an upgrade. It just masks problems.

The group number is 2HF. There are several suppliers that have the correct battery, but if you are just trying to get the car running and then fix it up, you can get a universal type battery that will fit your holder.

You might have better luck by shopping by size. The battery is 10.58 L x 7.28 W x 8.25 H.

If the battery has three caps, it is six volts. If it has six, it is twelve volts. A gel cell battery, such as an Optima, is recommended for old cars that are lightly driven. To determine if the car was converted from the original six volts, check the generator tag and/or the light bulbs, such as the headlights.
