Front and back exterior lights that had previously been trouble-free now don't work. Troubleshooting I found the bulb at the bottom of the steering column has grease in it. Would this cause the lights not to work? Also, it appears the grease came from the steering box. How do I check this out?

Your oil tube is leaking,up in the steering box. I have a brand new one availible. If 35-36. Will have at hershey if your interested. ken ct.

That's a typical problem with the switch at the bottom of the steering column (not one of Ford's "better ideas). A temporary fix is to release the bail on the switch body and wash it out with carb or brake cleaner in an aerosol can. If you don't have the extended tube on the column end plate, I'd get one. The change isn't easy, as the wires have to be passed thru the tube, but it will cure the problem.

Ken - where will you be in Hershey? Also, I need a emergency brake transfer bar for the right rear of a '36 sedan. It is the bar that goes across the backing plate just under the cylinder and pushes the front shoe against the hub. Got one of those?
