Topic: 1936 Ford Grill Accessory Question

klein@aristotle.net    -- 09-10-2011 @ 7:20 PM
My father's first car was a 1936 Ford Coupe. He added Three Chrome Trim pieces that wrapped around the grill and the sides of the hood almost to the front of the doors.

I am not sure what this was called, but they probably came from J.C. Whitney.

Does anyone know anything about them or have a picture of a 1936 Ford with this Grill Accessory?

I believe you are talking about "Pines Trim". It was made specifically for the 36's. It included some chrome trim that was placed on the front corners of the hood.

Klein, your Father added a set of "Pines Trim". This was specific to the 1936 Ford, although the Pines Company did have other products, including winter fronts. It was a distinctive set of trim pieces that began at the center of the grill and wrapped around, said to have been styled after the 1936 "coffin nose" Cord. They would have been available directly from Pines, and from accessory houses such as JC Whitney. I've seen only one set installed, that being on a '36 Roadster built in Castro Valley California by a Charter Member of the EFV8CA. It sold to a gentleman in Southern California.

In the July/Augusts 2011 issue of the V8 TIMES is a section with pictures showing the Pines front.
