On a '48 convertible top, where are tack strips used, what sizes are they and how are they attached? This message was edited by bo8109b on 9-7-11 @ 6:39 PM

The tack strip is used at where the top meets the panel ahead of the trunk lid. It fits in a metal channel. The top is also secured to the rear top bow and the header, both of which accept tacks, which are covered by a trim strip. Tack strip is available from vendors such as LeBaron-Bonney. Installing a convertible top correctly requires much skill and experience. We farm out the job to an excellent auto trim shop, as cutting and fitting is critical, and one mistake can turn a top into a pile of junk.
