what type of clips go on a 1946 car dis cap to hold the dust cap to the dis cap? it is not the crab type. i also found out why my dash lights were not working. loose wire. i asked about the dash light at another time. i have one big bail but looks like it should have two other clips to hold the two parts together.

The '46 uses just the one big bail that goes over both parts of the cap and holds the whole thing to the distributor. The side clips are used on the '42 (crab type) distributor.

There are two wire clips 51A-12109 that hold the upper cap to the lower cap. Mac's has them in their catalog. Then the larger bail holds both caps to the distributor.

Thanks for the correction. I learn again. Could be the missing clips on my '46 is why I had problems and switched to the '42 style.

The wire clips really dont do much and they tend to break all the time. Their realy not needed on there.I rebuild many 46-48 dist and never use them. ken ct OMO
