Topic: Removing Door Glass on 1937 Ford Fordor

Can someone give me a step-by-step process on removing the drivers door glass on my 1937 Ford fordor? I have the door panel off and I can see the bottom of the glass sitting in it's channel but not sure on how to remove it. Also, does anyone know where I can purchase the door panel clips also for the same car? Thanks once again! Don

  Hey Don,

I have a 36 fordoor. I assume the glass would be removed the same way.
Remove the window garnish mouldind & crank the window up. The rollers should slip out of the channel with the window all the way up or down. Can't remember. Old age I guess. The window will then come out. NOTE I had a problem wih the rollers sliding out of the channel so I drilled a hole at the very end & put in a small nut & bolt. You may not have this problem but with my luck I did. Before I fixed it, my window fell out & of course busted the new glass that I just put in. OH WELL it's only money.
Good Luck,
Joe

Mine is a 34, but should be the same.
With the door panel and the window molding off,
look for a brass stop knob at the end of the track.
In the side of it you will find a screw (hidden in a hole filled with grease) Take it off and the the silders on the crank mechanism will slide out the end and allow you to turn the window vertically and lift it out the top.
At least that's how I remember doing it.

Just took the windows out of my 37 coupe. Remove the garnish moulding and then remove the door panel.Roll the window up in the closed position. Remove all the screws that hold the regulator in the door. Push in on the regulator shaft and bring the regulator and window down into the bottom of the door. Remove the center stud from the window channel and turn the regulator shaft so the arms of the regulator come towards the center of the channel. Slide the regulator back until the front arm drops out of the channel and then slide it forward so the rear arm drops out of the channel.Remove the regulator from the door. Now push up on the glass and get it to a point where you can rotate the glass 90 degrees. Now lower the glasds to the bottom of the door, rotate it back 90 degrees and slide the glass out of the door. If you are replacing the glass make sure the channel goes back on the new glass in the same position as it was on the old glass. Reverse the process to put it back together.
