  i have a 1942 ford business coupe an would like to look up the vin number to get some info an history on the car but have no clue what site on the web to go to to get this info. if any one could help out with this it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Unfortunately Ford did not use the VIN number to convey information in 1942. The number is a sequential number, starting with 18-1 in 1932, issued by the rouge engine plant when the engine was assembled. This number was then transferred to the frame when the engine was installed. If you go to VanPelt Sales you will get a more complete discussion including the serial number by month. However be careful using them for 42 as Ford had a number of military contracts and was installing V8s in other vehicles.
