What is the correct tire air pressure for 4ply 6x16 Ford Whitewalls on a 1947 Ford Sportsman Woodie Convertible? This is a recent purchase and I do not have and cannot find the correct PSI.

I have my 37 Ford fordor 6X16 tires at 35 PSI without any issues. I think the standard is 30 PSI.

According to the original decal on my glove compartment door the tire pressure should be 28 lbs front and rear.

Our decal says 28 lbs as well, that's what we run. Wayne & Barb '42 Super De Luxe Tudor

By the way, nice article on the Sportsmans in the October issue of Collectible Automobile. I have this dream of a '42 Woodie and '47 Sportsman in my garage one day after I win the lottery... Wayne & Barb '42 Super De Luxe Tudor

I run 32 psi with bias ply tires. It doesn't affect the ride, but does seem to improve handling. The decal says 28, but 32 works well with today's tires.

I also run 32 lbs. Thats the max embossed on the tire.

I do not have a Sportsman; I have a '39 Tudor. However, I really like 38 lbs. air pressure, regardless of what my old manual states. I hope this information is of some use to you. Mike Durhan
