thank you for getting back to me. When is in first gear, it lags for acceleration. Giving it more gas to pick up speed in first gear, creates back fire!!! I took the carb out, and cleaned the injections. it is still does the same thing after i installed the carb!! Do you think i should add more transmission oil?? or it has to do with the fuel and carburetor?

To give any suggestions, we need to know the type of engine. That is, does it have 24 or 21 cylinder head studs? What type of carb is installed? What is the rear axle gearing? Has it been converted to hydraulic brakes? Does it have what appears to be an original ignition coil? Without that information, I'd suspect that you may have a poor or open ignition condenser. That will cause lack of power and backfiring.
