I seem to have excessive play where the clutch pedal attaches to the shaft. Part numbers are 7524, 7526. The clutch pedal has a bolt that secures it to the shaft. If I loosen the bolt and slip the pedal off the shaft, is there a bushing on the end of the shaft that can be replaced?

Bill: More often than not, both the pedal bushing and the shaft are badly worn. There are grease fittings on the pedals, but are most often missed. The pedal shaft and it's bracket will come out, but it is usually a struggle. Replace both the clutch and brake pedal bushings while you have them out. I would expect the the clutch release shaft in the clutch housing is also probably badly worn, too, and should be replaced. Any slop in the pedal and clutch shafts makes adjustment usually difficult or impossible.

48-7526 is the P/N for the bushing. The shaft is usually worn when you have play in the pedal. It is a good practice to replace the shaft and both bushings while you have the assembly out of the car. The clutch and brake pedals should be pinned to the shaft. The Green book page 336 shows the drawing for the clutch and brake pedal shaft assembly. Tom
