Purchased a 59AB supposed to have come from a 47 truck Has a number on back of block that reads E8633 then below that is 59AB Question what horsepower is it (100 horsepower)if none of this is true what is it

Gene, the 59AB is a 100hp engine, produced for Ford and Mercury from about 1946 through 1948. The bore and stroke of this engine is 3.1875 x 3.750. There was also a 59A starting in 1945, but I don't know of any difference in this engine, nor when it was superceded by the 59AB. Alan
