Topic: 41 Ford Horn Ring Paint Color?

ford1941    -- 08-13-2011 @ 12:52 PM
I had my 41 Ford Super Deluxe's horn ring rechromed and now I need to repaint the center of it and the "SUPER DELUXE" lettering. I attached a picture of the horn ring with the original paint prior to the rechroming. Does any one know what shade of red this is (name, code or formula)? Also, from some pictures I have, the lettering appears to be a different color than the background – it seems to be a brighter shade of red that matches the lettering on the radio grill emblem. Is this correct? Thank you, Scott

On mine, the SUPER DELUXE lettering and background on the horn ring are the same color.... sort of a brownish tinted maroon to my eyes. The FORD lettering on the dash verticle center bar is red.

Does the 41 -48 Early Ford club have any info?

The 41 to 48 book does not address the color used on the 41 horn ring. The ones that have seen use a reddish brown color on the recesses of the ring and lettering. I would check with the 41-42 advisor in the V-8 Times for verification.

The best way to describe the color for the 1941 Ford horn ring is it's a brownish tinted maroon. I don't have a color code or formula for it. The Super Deluxe letters and half circles are the same color. 41-42 Ford advisor

Many years ago I restored a 41 convertible. I matched the horn ring color with a shade of nail polish. As screwy as it sounds, it went on well and looked good. However, the car never liked me and I soon sold it, so I don't know how it held up. Jim Farrell
