Do the new Bob Drake Halogen reflectors work any better than the old ones?.I have a 35 that is impossable to see with at night in the country.I would change to 12 volt if it works.can not find seal beam retainer rings to fit a 35.

bill, keep looking for the retainer rings for the stock lights. Run an ad on this site and Fordbarn and I'll bet you find them. Seal beams in a 35 almost look stock as they take the place of the 35 lense. Those retainer rings were made for many cars with the same diameter headlamp as the 35. When you go to the 6 volt seal beams you should also run a headlamp relay.

I put Drake's halogen headlights in my '47. Actually, they are not "sealed beams", but housings with halogen bulbs in them. I had two problems: they were difficult to adjust, as the bulb filaments were not in the focus of the reflectors and, at 6 volts, were not as bright as the sealed beams they replaced. I added a relay board to feed them directly from the battery, which made them very bright, and the focusing took some fiddling with the adjusters. They draw a lot of current, and the original switches and wiring just wasn't up to the job. Now, they are as bright as 12 volt lights, perhaps brighter.
