I am considering purchasing one of the leftside exhaust mainfolds for dual exhaust from Bob Drake. Does any of you guys know anything about it, ie how they fit,how hard they are to install, are they good quality etc.?

Steve, depending on your model year, it may be futile to change out the
left side manifold. The early Fords will still require a hard bend into the
frame, with a pinch to clear the clutch pedal.

Contact Pat Rooney. He manufactures a left side exhaust manifold fashioned after the original that Ford provided on the Police Power package on the '51 and later Ford Police cars. It fits like the original. It will work just fine in a '49 to '54 flathead application. Here's his number; (440) 247-3585. I could call him to discuss your application. I think his cost is less than Drake and it's USA made. Ken

Drake also sells the left side exhaust manifold to aid in installing duals. The outlet is at the rear, instead of at the front for the crosspipe. It will not directly replace the stock left side manifold if you are not putting on dual exhaust.
