I'm rebuilding the H-series 6-cylinder in my '48 Tudor. Any experts out there that can give me some advice?

Make sure that the machine shop has Ford flathead experience, that you get a complete list of the services and parts that the machine shop will provide and the warranty terms of the shop.

Where are you located? Do you plan to do it yourself or have the entire engine done by someone else. Flathead experience but a competent machinist should be able to do what is needed.

Be sure you have located all the necessary parts before commencing. Even though sixes were common in trucks, they were mostly used up in hard service. There is nothing more frustrating than having a project stalled because a vital piece was lacking.

I'm in North Carolina. Joblot Automotive in NY seems to have all the parts I need...rods, mains, rings, gaskets, etc. Besides a broken exhaust valve this seems to be in very good shape. If any of you know of a machine shop in my area with flathead experience, please let me know.
