Where can I obtain a battery for the '39 that fits? Source other than "Antique Auto Battery"?

It depends on whether you want a battery that fits the carrier, or are looking for a concourse correct branded battery. Dealers, such as Interstate Batteries, have a catalog full of appropriate types. There are "real" battery cases that will house the often preferred Optima batteries that are suited to old cars. Buying batteries became complicated years ago when it was decided that unless the battery was " dry", it couldn't be shipped. That forced many vendors out of the mail order business.

For years I have always used a replacement battery for an early Ford tractor. Cost is about $35 at Tractor Supply. I can usually get 4-5 years of service from them. Nothing fancy, but does the job. Tom

I just purchased a new Ford Script from Axion Power (New Castle PA). It is shipped "dry charged". Need to add acid (had a battery shop do this) Very satisfied
