ok let car set a day. carb was dry again. did replace the power valve. jets maybe? does this mean that the carb is no good or just in need of rebuild. it will run fine and does not lose prime from 8am to 7 pm on the same day. starts right up runs as if nothing is wrong . something tells me i will need a jiffy kit sooner or later. it does have lots of power and does run down the road great. carb i think is a holly 21-29.

Disappearing gas over a longer period of time can be caused by the lack of flat gasket surfaces between parts of the casting. When we rebuild a carb, we place a sheet of fine sandpaper on a piece of glass and rub the gasket surface on it. Any warped parts will be easy the see. The problem can be caused by over tightening the screws during assembly, or just plain age. Gas has a very low surface tension and can leak by capillary action thru very small openings or leaky gaskets. Sometime the surfaces can be repaired, but often it is time for replacement.
