What is a good source for seat belts for a 51 Crestliner? I'd like the Ford logo on the buckle.

I got mine from Julianno's. They are the 3-point type with the old style (airline style) buckle and retractors. The buckles are hard to buckle and the retractors usually catch when I pull the belt out. Overall, they just don't work very well. Other than that, they look nice and have fairly good installation instructions and excellent mounting hardware. Richard

Hello Mr. Seat Belts, I have juliannos too and Like Them Very Much! They come in several colors and I feel they look good in the car! I've got the polished buckle ones,--which I feel look Very period Correct! By the way I also have a "51 "Crestliner"!Great Cars!! I got around the re- tracter --by not using it!----I just tuck the outboard belt in between the side of the front seat cushion and the steel panel/cover,--to me it fits perfecty and is out of the way!!! The inboard one I just leave draped over the seat towards the front,--as usual!-----Goog Luck And Enjoy That "CRESTLINER' "Cresty"

Cresty, thanx for the great info. Do you have suggestions for the anchorage of the belts? I haven't bought them yet but that is at the top of my list.

When seat belts started to become popular in the early fifties, we installed them in all of our vehicles, including my brothers new 51 Ford convert. They came with the attachment hardware and explicit instructions on mounting geometry. The attachment hardware consisted of a 3/8 grade 8 anchor bolt with a thick 3- inch diameter "fender washer" that beefed up the floorpan from the bottom side. The critical issue was to have a straight-line pull for the belts, not deflected by the seat bottom. I would imagine that the new retrofit kits would have similar instructions, but my main concern would be the integrity of the now 58 year-old floorpan.

Hello Jax-- If you look at one of ther advertisements they will probably have a discription of at least two types of mounting systems for under the floor boards,---I ordered the angle bar and used it.It's about 4" long,or so.----Like was mentioned,--make sure you have good solid floor boards for whatever you choose to use!!!
