I have a 1940 Ford with a 59AB engine. The carb is a 94.It is hard to start after it sets for about 15 minutes after it has been driven.I looked down the carb. and think the gas is boiling.I seen gas dripping out. This is causing my starting problem. Can I lower the level in bowl to help?I am not sure how to adjust float. Can anyone give me some direction?

Check out the post labeled CARB PROBLEM.

It discusses your problem in detail and includes a drawing of a home made float gauge that will allow an accurate setting of your float.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask them on this post or on the CARB PROBLEM post.

What you are seeing is called "heat soak", and is normal. Gas expands considerably when heated and is forced out of the carb. It is important to set the float correctly as the bowl holds a fairly small amount of fuel when the float is considered. Any internal leakage aggravates the starting problem, particularly if the coil, or engine in general, is not up to the task.
