Does anyone know the bolt circle for a 10" V8 clutch pressure plate? Thanks Don in SC

Do you need the pattern for the Long, Luk, or Borg & Beck (Alma)? They are all different. The Long is the 3 lever type and the others are diaphram types. I owned a clutch shop for 29 years before I retired, so I can dig around and find you the info for the pattern, lever hgt. and disk thickness. In order to get the proper pressure plate lever hgt. you need to know the disk thickness. That can make a big difference in the settings. The late 10" pressure plates also use a longer lever that will not work on the older applications. The lever end will hit the quill on the transmission when released. So you nneed to be sure which one you have.

It is a 3 lever type pressure plate and will be attached to a 53 PU flywheel that was originally drilled for an 11" pressure plate. I am having it drilled and tapped for a 10" presure plate. The tanny is a light duty 3 speed.

Maybe I am missing something but why can't you lay the pressure plate on the flywheel and align with your pilot shaft and mark the 6 hole locations? John Opps! sorry, wrong idea Not thinking straight in this heat This message was edited by oldford2 on 5-31-11 @ 5:10 PM

The pilot aligns the disc, but not the pressure plate. I believe I'd use the larger pressure plate and disc than redrill and tap the flywheel.

Don, I agree with Supereal, use the 11" clutch, unless the bell housing will not accept the 11" clutch.In that case I would buy a flywheel that is drilled for the 10" clutch. Tom

The dimensions for the 10" bolt pattern is 11.375" bolt circle. There are 6 holes in patterns of two - 120 degrees apart. The 2 holes are 3.140" apart center to center. I had to measure the 3.140" with some calipers and checked several different pressure plates. Threy varied .005" +-, so the 3.140 is about the average. You should be good there. The finger hgt. is 2.00" measured from the flywheel surface to the tip of the finger with the clutch and pressure bolted and torqued down to the flywheel. Torque it down evenly or the fingers will not be level. They should not vary more than .020" fron the highest to lowest. We always set ours to within .005". This is a very common source of clutch chatter.
