Topic: !941 Ford transmission

Just bought a 1941 Ford with no motor or transmission. It still has the torque tube and drive shaft. I'm looking for a transmission and am wondering if all three speeds from 1941 to 1951 would fit. I,ve never had a Ford older than 1951, so don't have much knowledge of interchangeable parts for older Fords. Thanks.

Vintagedream, any ford transmission from 1940 till 1948 will bolt up in your 1941 Ford. Any flathead v8 from 1937 till 1953 will bolt up. Engines from 1949 to 1953 will require a bell housing adapter.

In general, all transmissions built between 1941 and 1948 will fit your car. After that time, you will need the "adapter", which is a ring, either cast or pressed, which will allow the coupling between the engine and transmission. One of the most admirable features of Ford cars is that there was a reluctance (and a curse) to change. The 1949 (late '48') cars broke that tradirion but, in fact, saved the company from the trash heap of history.
