Topic: How do you replace front torque tube seal

I would like to replace the front grease seal on the torque tube for a 36 but cannot figure how to remove old seal. I have the torque tube removed and the drive shaft and needles bearings out but where do I go from here.

Did you try to remove the bearing sleeve first, with a hook tool, and then you can use a hook tool to pull the seal out,
If you have a slide hammer tool, they come with a pointed screw that you screw in the seal, and this pops it out,
if you got it out let us know how you did it,
hope this helps 37RAGTOPMAN

The job is finished. Got some great instructions on the other ford site as to how to remove and install, thanks

As 37 said, the bearing race (sleeve) must come out first, before the seal. Usually, a slide hammer will do the job, The new seal, then the sleeve, must be installed with the correct driver. There was a change in the bearing and sleeve in 1937, so be sure that if you are installing a B-4645 sleeve, you are also putting in the correct "B" bearing. Most catalogs list these parts as being the same from '28 thru '48, but they are not interchangable with the earlier "68" style. Special tools were used for this job at the dealership. That is why many don't attempt to replace the seal.
