Topic: 36 Phaeton - what is this number?

There is a nice 36 Phaeton on *bay right now. The item number is 120729158222.

There are also numerous photos. This one looks like it shows a number stamped in the sheet metal. Since it's a close-up, you can't get perspective of where on the car it was located.

Does anyone recognize this number sequence?

Is it a body number of some type? Or a part number for some other component?

Just wondering . . . . .

Henry, It's almost impossible to answer your question without knowing more about the car and where that number is located. It might have been added sometime during the car's life for other reasons. While this car looks good and might be a fun driver, there are many, many issues with it. If it has the original frame under it, the car was built in September of 1935 and is a very early 36 model. None of the restoration indicates early 36. There has been little attention paid to originality. The gauges are from a mid to late standard 36 vehicle. They should have a grey face and the speedometer should be deluxe with a 4 digit odometer. The steering column and steering wheel as well as the dash should be Benton Grey. And many, many more items. It's a neat car, but I wouldn't hang my hat on anything being original!!!

  Hello Don,

It's always rewarding to get a post from you.

I did pick up on several of the items you mentioned; nice car but with a little more effort could have been a lot more correctly done.

Since I'd not seen a number like this anywhere on my December 36 Phaeton, I was curious if anyone else could place it.

Regards

Henry
