The front of my 47 Ford convertible appears to sit 3-4" higher than the back. It could be the back is too low except the height of the body over the tire in the rear resembles pictures I've seen. Are there any adjustments that would affect the height of the body on the frame?

sgolsen, There are no adjustments per se, but there are several factors that can produce the incorrect stance of your car. The shocks come to mind as a likely suspect. Your year came with Houdallie lever shocks, or may have been changed out to the later tube shocks. Either could present wrong, as the lever shocks could be frozen, or if yours has tube shocks, they may be of an incorrect length. You may have a replacement front spring. Check out the obvious things like wheel and tire size and shackles. 3-4 inches is really quite a lot, so I'd guess that there's something going on in the rear also, even if it does appear to sit better in the rear. That problem is almost always related to the springs. If the rear spring is weak or broken, it will cause the front of the car to appear elevated, as if the trunk is full of rocks. Due to the weight of extra chassis bracing of an open car, the condition of the spring, in terms of curvature and number of leaves, is critical. I spent lots of time getting my '47 convertible to sit level. I've attached a photo to show how it turned out.
