Topic: '38 Ford drag link

Well, I've got the spindles off and they're at the machine shop getting new bushings pressed in and honed to fit. I'll go ahead and replace the ends on the tie rod also. I'm wondering about the drag link. It looks like the end that attaches to the pitman arm is good, with no discernable play. The other end probably needs to be replaced. The parts suppliers seem to only list the entire drag link assembly. Can the end just be replaced with a regular tie rod end?

Thanks for any info.

the drag link should take a 3290 tie rod end it is the same as the tie rod end on the LH side of the car. The tie rod ends are offered with both LH and RH thread so rotating the tie rod would expand or contract the length of the assembled tie rod and ends allowing adjustment on the car without removing a tie rod end from the spindle. In 38 the drag link did not have the same ability as the tie rod assembly and one end of the drag link assembly had to be removed removed from the spindle to adjust.

Thank you! That's exactly what I needed to know.
