How do you remove the wiper arm from the post it's attached to? This, on a '53 Sedan.

Most of the wiper arms fit over the serrated hub of the shaft. You have to pull the base of the arm off the hub evenly. It often takes some force and a bit of wiggling if they have been on a long time. When reinstalling, be sure that the shafts are in the "park" position, and install the arms on the hubs so they are at the bottom of the glass.

If you are speaking of the chrome arm that the blade attaches to -- You sort of have to lift on the arm at the hinge and push down on the other end of the arm so that you can lift the entire arm are off straight up. They had a set of pliers that did a great job removing them. When you had them in position under the arm and squeezed them, they opened and spread parallel which then removed the arm

Onsome of the wiper arms there is a spring loaded tab that keeps the arm locked onto the shaft. That tab has to be pushed outward in order to start to remove the wiper from the shaft.

  trjford8.....

Thats what I'm thinking too. I can't get them to move using the other methods mentioned. I've got to be careful as I don't want to scratch the paint. I'm going to hafta 'hit the books' on this.
