Just had a 43 year old radiator pressure tested (did well @ 8 lbs) and the entire radiator still has old black paint on it. Obviously the tank is brass on top covered with the old black paint. Any suggestions on how I sand the surfaces I can get to to apply new paint (steel wool or sandpaper) and do I need to prime the brass first? Any recommendations on good flat black paint and primer if needed? - thanks

Radiator paint type is important. Go to www.eastwood.com to find "radiator black". Old paint should be removed, at least as much as possible. A shop that can "hot tank" the unit makes the job easier. Then, just follow the directions on the paint can.
