Where exactly is the clutch inspection plate on the bell housing located and what is involved in getting to it? Thanks...

Just pull the center floorboard plate (where the shift lever comes through). This will reveal the transmission "bell". At the top of the bell will be a small (about 2" square tin cover secured with two round-head capscrews). Remove the cover, and you will be able to view the clutch assembly. You may have to "bump" the engine to get the pressure plate cover webs out of the way so you can directly view the plate, (friction-disc) condition from edge-on.
