Hi all, After 5 yrs of rebuilding a 38 deluxe Coupe it is finally ready to paint. We want to paint the car 39 Ford "Jefferson Blue" to honor a passed friend who had a 39 when we were in H.S. We have been told PPG Deltron "Concept" paint will give us a stockish looking paint job. We are going to paint the color over a silver base. Because we are color-blind and the old color chips are so unreliable, we are asking club members for help in identifying a modern color match that is available in PPG paint. If you have already solved this problem and are willing to help us you will helping put a beautiful old Ford back on the road. Thanks. Dave

Hi Dave, My car is a '39 Fordor and it is Jefferson Blue. It was my Dad's car originally. He was the only kid in high school to have his own car, so he was quite a legend in his own time (he graduated from H.S. in 1942.) The car was a project for almost 20 years, so it was painted around 15-18 years ago. I still have some of the paint cans that were used for the job. The cans say PPG DELSTAR DAR 15228 Acrylic Enamel. Jefferson Blue 1939 Ford. I've linked a picture of it in the sunlight for you. I hope this gets you going in the right direction... Let us know what you find out and post some pictures.

Have your local paint dealer check his antique car catalog for a formula. PPG has formula's for most of the Ford colors. Tom

Just curious. Is that the same as Lyon Blue for 1940?

"Crazy 4 Cars" lists Jefferson Blue as code M 1775.
