Topic: Oil Sending Unit

Can one of you guys steer me in the right direction? My flathead has been converted to 12v, and has an aftermarket oil gauge (Painless), what sending unit will work with this setup?
Thanks,

In order for an electrical gauge to be accurate, the sending unit must have the proper resistance range measured in ohms. Even though two sending units look identical in appearance, they may be calibrated for different gauges. For example in the mid 80's the same model of GM vehicles could have an oil pressure gauge that read 0-80 psi or 0-60 psi. The sending unit is different for each.

Most aftermarket gauges come with the proper sending unit, if not Painless should be able to supply one or at least give you a specification for the hi-low resistance requirement.

If they give you the resistance specs then you can go to an auto supply store and use a catalog such as the BWD Illustrated Parts Guide. It not only has pictures of each sending unit, but also the thread size and of course the resistance range.

If all else fails give me the Painless part number of the gauge, we are a dealer for them.
