Topic: 1949-1953 clutch release fork? Photot

Flatbob    -- 04-08-2011 @ 1:22 PM
Can someone tell me what purpose the hole on both sides of the fork serve if any? Am trying to piece together a '49-'53 stamped one piece bell housing.

The parts catalog shows that they are used for the anti-rattle spring.

TomO, thanks for replying. What catalog do you have? Don't see it listed in the C&G catalog, would this be a NAPA part? Do you have a part #?

I looked it up in the Ford Chassis Parts manual for 1949-1953.

The arm is P/N XX-7515 where XX is 8A for 49/50, 1A for 51 and AB for 52/53.

The spring is XX-7562 with 8A for 49-51 and AB for 52/53.

TomO thanks, will see if I can locate these springs. Does the manual show if one or two springs is used? I have a hole on each side of the clutch release fork arm so I thought it might use two. Went to Vanpelt site & now I see how everything goes together.

There is one spring that goes from the top hole to the bottom hole. Unfortunately VanPelts site does not have the P/N on it. The spring is shown as a wire just behind the arm by the holes.

I couldn't find a part number either & don't see it in any of the usual supplier catalogs either. Sent a picture to a salvage yard, hope he has one.

Give Mac Vanpelt a call, he may have one or tell you where you can get one.

Another potential source is Birdhaven. They specialize in "showbox" parts. 515-377-5319.
