Thanks kubes40&ford38v8 i kinda thought so. That means intake & heads are also deducted. I am going to the Saratogo Meet in july and i presently have a 59AB in my 40 so i will take a big loss of points. The car has been a driver for the 28 years i have owned it and very relible and trouble free. So be it. Thanks again.

RG, please, in the future, respond to the original post rather than starting a new thread. You have options on the entry of your Ford at Saratoga or at any EFV8CA Concourse: Any car can be point judged, or can b e entered in the Touring Class, or possibly the Rouge Class. In Touring, there is no point judging, just a popular vote by registered attendees. Rouge Class has three areas of eligibility: Exterior, interior, and Running Gear, any one of which could gain you a Rouge Trophy for originality. Point Judging is not just for the super restored cars, it's also for anyone who wishes to learn the relative correctness of their car regardless of points deducted. Judges have 20 minutes per car, and write down deficiencies found in those 20 minutes to be reviewed with the owners, unlike a Concours de Elegance where owners are never given access to the judging sheets. No matter which Class you enter, you'll be proud as heck to have your car on the Concourse field for the first time! Alan

Screw the Concours awards! Your car should get a special award (higher than a Dearborn) because it is driven to the event. It's the heavily driven original cars which make this hobby so enjoyable. There is something to be said about the patina from age and use which is far more attractive than a fully restored/perfect car. After all, they're only original once. RG/NJ Don't worry about the points. Come to Saratoga and register in concourse or touring and just enjoy the fun. Can be sort of upsetting to have judges pick your car apart. Great people and fun conversations. We have more fun driving than polishing our 46. John

I enter the Touring class but do sign up to Judge to learn what to do if I try to enter my car in other areas.I like driving my cars anyway.My cars are just drivers but do try to get them done correct as possible. Kenneth M. Stewart

MG, A lot of the Concourse cars are driven to the meet. My car is a Dearborn Emeritus and was driven to all 3 meets where it earned the Dearborn Award. It is the owners choice whether to drive to the meet or not. Judges are cautioned to not deduct point for normal road dirt on cars driven to the meet. Some of the Concourse cars are only driven from the trailer to the Safety Check and then on to the Concourse, that is the owners privilege, since the mandatory tour was removed as a requirement. There are also Touring and Display class cars that are trailered and not driven. A meet participant can enter his car in any of the classes that it is eligible for and his decision can be changed any time up to the day of the Concourse judging. The purpose of the National Meets is to bring together as many Club cars as possible so all of us can enjoy our cars and the other Club Members and their cars. The sponsoring Regional Groups try to hold an event that all car guys and gals can enjoy, not an event to pick on you or your car. RG/NJ, Drive your car to Saratoga and at the Safety Check, ask the guys if you should be in Touring or Concourse Class. They will help you decide. If not getting a trophy will hurt your feelings, enter your car in the Display Class, where everybody can admire it. Tom

Definitely, drive to the meet, put the car in Touring and have fun. High point cars are great. So are all the rest of the flathead-era vehicles which show up at the EFV8 National Meets. If you take a look at the twenty-two photos from last October's St. George show on this site under Current News, there is a primer-and-patina '36 roadster with Alberta license plates that drove all the way from Edmonton to participate........about 2800 miles round trip. Even if you only drive 28 miles, the main thing is that you made it to the event, met up with other Club members, and we all get to look at and enjoy each other's cars.
