Am trying to hook up heater hose to right cylinder head but can't remove the hex head plug. Heated it with Mapp gas torch but the cyl head is too much of a heat sink to do much good. Afraid to put too much force on the 18'socket handle. Any ideas?

If you are trying to heat the plug with coolant in the head, it won't do the job. Those plugs are pipe threaded, and if you can work them back and forth, they will often come loose with a bit of heat. It can depend on what kind of sealer was used. I'm assuming that your head is iron. With an aluminum head, steel plugs can be next to impossible to remove without damaging the head..
