Topic: Water Pump Grease

I was doing a Spring checklist of supplies to be ordered, and ordered some grease from Mac's. They offer a grease that can be used for the water pump and general applications as well. That's great seeing years ago when I owned an "A", I needed two grease guns for the two types of grease. Well when the order came in they sent 1 tube of Pennzoil Ultra HD2, and 1 tube of Sh*ll Retinax LX2. Has anyone else used these? Both are claimed to be all purpose grease.

Water pumps require water resistant grease which should be used very sparingly. We used Mystik JT 6 on our Model A's. It is about as waterproof as grease gets, and is widely used for boat trailer bearings. The water pump grease fitting serves only the shaft bushings. The seal is lubed by the coolant. Excess grease will contaminate the coolant and radiator.

There was a recent discussion on water pump grease/lube on the Ford Barn. You should probably go there and read up on what was posted.

Well, after reading that post about water pump grease, I know that I have to return these two tubes that I purchased from Mac's. They are "high temperature" grease which is not suitable for water pumps.
Even though their ad says for water pumps.
*#@%!!!!!
