  Sorry for the poor picture. I am including an addional picture where you can see a groove on one end. These pictures were sent to me from a friend who found this object in the corner of a garage.

That's a FORD VLAVE GUIDE REMOVING DRIVER,it works on MODEL A's'B's'C's and FORD V8.
it is not the best tool for the job,you have to remove the C CLIP keeper on the bottom first and the spring,
then try to tap the guide down and out,
the guides are frozen most of the time,
some time you need to pull the valve and guide out from the top with a special valve puller,

  If the guide is so badly stuck that ordinary tools won't budge it, the quickest way to remove it is to take off the valve head and, using an appropriate drift, bang it down and out. More than likely, the valve and guide can't be reused, anyway. Straight valves and one piece guides are a considerable improvment, and worth the cost, including adjustable tappets.
