Topic: 1939 Deluxe 2DR Interior Bright Trim

We're installing a Mac's Upholstry Kit, which is quite complete except for the (4) horizontal bright trim strips (1 each per side panel). They appear identical and are approximately 38" long x 3/8" tall, mounting under the window handles but above arm rests on the original panels we are replacing. Does anyone know the part number and/or source for NOS, NORS or good useable pieces? Thanks for any assistance. MDB

You can try LeBaron Bonney 800/221-5408, but I'd surprised if they have the strips. I needed them for the doors on my '47, and had the plastic parts, but the metal strip tabs were missing. I finally found them by calling around until I found a referral from a vendor who didn't have them, but knew who did.

You may have a tough time finding replacemants for those strips. Do you still have the originals? How bad are they? As I recall those are a metal strip that is painted a dark brown.Page 3-37 of the V-8 Club's 38-39 restoration book describes these trim stips. They were painted the dark brown the same as the door and window handles. The strips are attached by bending over a tab that sticks through the door panel. If you jhave the stips and the tabs are not broken off, just paint them and re-install on the new panel.

The strips you refer to were used on all Deluxe cars and were actually metal coated with a brown plastic-like material as used on the door and window handles. As far as I know, no one reproduces these pieces.
