I am fairly new to this forum and am pleased with the responses given to people needing help.....I am in this catagory. I am putting the engine back together after a valve job and cleaning....my concern is the oil system......is there any way to make sure the lines and system is clear and functioning without running the engine.....I don't have it back together yet and would like to make sure all the oil passages are free of crud.....thanks in advance for any help.....Pat

You can shoot some carb cleaner into the lines, then blow them dry with compressed air. We boil all blocks to clear internal passages, but you may be past that point by now. Resist the temptation to poke anything into the block, as it is likely to loosen some crud that should stay put. Be sure to do an oil change after a 100 miles or less when you have it running to drain anything disturbed during the assembly of an unboiled block..
