I have bought the trunk panel kit for my 48 Ford Conv. but can't figure how they are fastened. I called LeBaron Bonney but were no help. Could some one e-mail me pictures of where the screws go as no holes are pounched in panels?? Thanks

When I installed new panels in my convertible, I clipped the heads fron several screws and ground them to a point. I then inserted them in the mounting holes in the body, put the panels in place, and pressed them against the points. The impressions allowed me to drill holes in the right positions. I also used cup washers under the heads of the actual mounting screws. This reinforces the panels so the screws don't pull through the cardboard, and conceals any slightly misplaced holes. I laid them out on some scr*p carbboard and gave them a coat of black paint with a "rattle can" to help make them less obvious.

Steve, along with Bob's advice in marking the holes i use a leather punch to make the holes in the cardboard. It makes a nice clean hole without tearing the paper. You can buy a cheap leather punch at Harbor Freight or probably at your local Ace Hardware.
