BA-7020938-B We have a new old stock stainless door molding with the above part number written on the back of it in black marker pen. It is 39 5/16 inches long. On pages X and XI of the 1949 to 1953 Chassis Parts Catalog, there are drawings of 1952 and 1953 Fords with a 20938 door molding which meets the fender at the front edge of the door. As per page VI where the various models are identified, it looks like 70 refers to Fords with two doors. Here's the problem: there doesn't seem to be a part listed anywhere in the catalog with the BA prefix. If 8A is 1949, and 0A is 1950, what is BA ? This NOS molding definitely has BA written on it, not 8A.......and it doesn't look like anything I've ever seen on a '49 or a '50. Does BA indicate 1952 and/or 1953 ? Am I looking in the wrong Ford parts catalog ?

BA-7020938-B 52-53 Tudor left side door molding BA-7020939 would be the right side. You need a Body Parts Catalog to find this number. Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for your response . What would the difference be between these 1952/1953 right and left door moldings ? The 20938 which we have appears to be symmetrical along its horizontal center line, and looks like it would therefore fit on either side. What confuses me even more is that I always thought an "odd" part number belonged on the left side, and an "even" part number fit on the right side. The body illustrations I'm looking at......1952 on page X and 1953 on page XI.......definitely show the even number 20938 with an arrow pointing to the molding on the left (driver's) door. Then, looking back at page IX, which illustrates a 1951 Ford, under the arrow pointing to the driver's side door molding is "20938-R.H." and "20939-L.H.". Unfortunately there is no illustration of the passenger's side of any vehicle. I now see a notation on both page X and XI that says REFER TO FORM 3605 BODY PARTS CATALOG, which apparently provides "body group numbers". That seems curious. I would have thought that the missing prefix identification information would be letters, or in the alternative a combination of letters and numbers. The very first page in this Chassis Parts and Accessories Catalog says that is Form 3752. Evidently I need to buy another book. Is it possible that when such right and left door moldings were identical, and did fit on both the left door and the right door, that Ford would have used only the even number 20938 to identify the part ?
