We have a Donaldson air cleaner for our 1936 Ford. We want to rebuild it from oil bath to a paper element.
Can somebody overthere tel me how to do and what kind of element and dimension I need. Thank you
Leo.

Be very careful what you use. Any restriction of the air flow beyond the original design air cleaner will greatly reduce gas mileage.

Leo: We have converted several oil bath air cleaners to accept a paper filter element. I'm attaching a sheet detailing the type usualy found on 40's Fords. You can use the basic principle in converting other types. When we had the unit apart, we took it to our local NAPA store and went thru their stock until we found one that would fit. We have never encountered problems with air flow, as modern elements offer very low restriction. That is why they are universally used in most cars and trucks today.
