Topic: Hollow Mounting Bolt , 1936 Headlight

I am looking for a 11/16-18 die to cut threads on a 1935 hollow bolt 4 inch long so I can rework it to make a 1 3/4 inch hollow bolt to use on my 1936 headlight. Maybe you know where I can purchase this die or if you have this die and would sell it to me. I have asked Roy N and he can't help me. Thanks much, Stanley

  Stanley,
Any decent machine shop can cut threads in a lathe. Take your bolts to one and ask if they can do it. If they can't, they aren't much of a machine shop and go to another. This will be quicker and probably cheaper then finding the die you want.
Good luck

southside obsolete list the 36 headlight bolt on their web site as well as the retaining clips.

I think I saw hollow bolts for mounting headlights listed in MAC's catalog. Not sure they were the same length and thread that you are looking for.

11/16X18 is the same thread as the tie rod ends. Speedway Motors has the die in their catalog. In my opinion you would be better off buying the correct bolts if available.
