What would be best material for firewall insulation? Felt material or the bubble type sound proofing?? Thanks

I used 1/2" closed cell foam that the heating & air conditioning outfits use. It deadens the noise, insulates the heat, and doesn't absorb moisture. Ken

I also used closed cell foam and it deterioted in about 5 years to a mushy substance, since then I have used the foil lined bubble insulation that I get at Lowes-2 layers for the firewall and one under the floor mat, I also glued it into the cab roof, walls, doors, and quarters of my truck, sure soundproofs it!

I went to the garage after reading alanwoodieman's input and checked behind the firewall cover and checked my insulation as described above. No change in mine. It's been there since 1993. I would guess that there is a difference in closed cell foam so my suggestion would be to buy quality and go to a Heating / Air Conditioning dealer to get it. JMO Ken

You can also find the closed cell foam with foil backing at swap meets. It comes in a roll for about $30.
