I have a 1934 Phaeton with a beige top. It has not been cleaned in a number of years.Has any one had any success with Ragtop or 303 cleaners or any other type of soaps. What type of fabric sealer would I use after to seal it with? Thanks.

There are products specially made for convertible top cleaning. I'm not familiar with the products you mentioned. Usually, a well stocked parts store will have it. Most vendors don't sell it due to problems in shipping liquids. Be sure it is for fabric, not vinyl material. A mild, foaming upholstery cleaner can be used. First, vacuum the top to remove as much dust, etc, as possible. Then, using a sponge, wipe the top surface with the foam of the cleaner, being careful not to saturate the top. If any cleaner remains, wipe with an almost dry sponge rinsed in clear water, then towel the top dry. Fabric tops, such as Hartz cloth, need no sealing. Be sure that the top is completely dry before lowering, or stains are likely to appear. This is also true if the top is rained on. The more you clean a convertible top, the more likely it is to leak, so do so only when it is absolutely necessary.
