I'm going to replace the patched intake on my 36 with a real nice one...first where can I get a correct gasket set,secondly are there any tips on doing this correclty...???

The intake gaskets are all the same from 1932 through 1948, so you should be able to source one at your local auto parts store. Make sure your manifold mating surface is flat, and install on a cleaned engine block surface dry, that is, without sealants. On an aluminum manifold, use flat washers under the capscrews. Van Pelt Sales' excellent website has the appropriate torque specs.

Some people recommend coating the gasket with "anti seize." IF IT CAN NOT BE FIXED WITH BLASTING WIRE, DUCT TAPE OR JB WELD - IT CAN NOT BE FIXED

If the gasket surface of the manifold shows any signs of wear, using the spray type sealer, such as that sold by Permatex, can be applied to be sure an effective seal is made. Tighten the bolts in "criss cross" sequence, starting at the middle, and work down toward the ends. Torque the bolts to 23-28 ft lbs. Aluminum manifolds require flat washers, while the iron type uses lock washers.
